Identifying Where to Edit in Drupal
Before fixing an issue, you need to know where it "lives." In Drupal, there are three main ways to access content:
If you are logged in and viewing a page, hover your mouse over the area with the issue.
- The "Pencil" Method
- The Cue: If a small Pencil Icon (or a gear) appears in the top-right corner of a block, click it and select Edit.
- Best for: Menu links, sidebar blocks, and individual video/image widgets.
If the issue is in the main text of a page (like a heading or a link):
- The "Content List" Method (Pages, Articles)
- Go to Admin > Content.
- Use the Filters to search for the page by title or type.
- Click Edit next to the correct page.
If a link in the top nav or footer is broken or missing text:
- The "Menu" Method (Navigation)
- Go to Structure > Menus.
- Select Main Navigation (or Footer).
- Find the link title and click Edit (to change the text) or Delete (to remove it).

How to Dismiss a Link in Siteimprove
When and Why to Dismiss a Link in Siteimprove
Not every "broken link" flagged by Siteimprove is actually broken. Automated web crawlers can trigger false positives for several reasons—such as a external website's security firewall blocking the automated scanner or content hidden behind a login portal. Dismissing a link removes it from your active error dashboard, ensuring your accessibility and quality assurance scores reflect true issues that actually require an editorial fix.
How to Fix:
- Verify the Link: Click the link manually to ensure it loads correctly for regular users.
- Dismiss in Siteimprove: If the link works, you can safely dismiss the flag by following these steps:
- Navigate to Quality Assurance > Links > Broken Links.
- Click on the affected page name.
- Locate the specific link in the Occurrences panel.
- Click the Settings (Cog) icon next to the link.
- Select Dismiss Link (forever).
- Add a comment to create an audit trail.
Example Dismissal Comment:
For General Functional Links: > "Manually tested and verified as working properly for site visitors. Dismissing as an automated false positive."
